The Best Bitters Brands in India right now

Have you ever wondered what makes a drink so appealing and yet so well-balanced? Bitters are what spices are to food in terms of drinks. Bitters, to put it simply, are a highly concentrated, flavorful spirit.

They're prepared by macerating or infusing a variety of fruits, herbs, and spices in high-proof alcohol. Bitters are used as an aromatic flavoring component in drinks and have a moderate level of alcohol.

A few drops of bitters provide a delightful dimension to any drink due to their concentrated nature. They began as medicinal tonics, proving to be an important medical tool in the past. However, they've evolved into one of the most useful tools in the mixologist's arsenal.

Angostura Bitters

Angostura is the most well-known bitters brand, and it can be found in most taverns. Angostura Bitters come in a variety of flavours. The superb flavour and pleasant scent of Angostura Aromatic bitters distinguishes it from all other aromatic bitters. It's widely used in soft drinks, cocktails, and other alcoholic beverages because of its delicious flavour and aroma. Because these bitters are exceedingly concentrated, they are used to flavour foods and beverages in the form of drops rather than being ingested "neat." The Angostura Orange Bitters are another well-known line. It's a blend of citrus essence, bitter and sweet orange oils, herbs, and spices.

Peychaud’s Bitters

It's predominantly a gentian-based bitter brand (a digestive herb also known as 'Bitter Root'), similar to the well-known Angostura bitters, but with a prominent anise aroma and only a tinge of mint. Peychaud's blends liquorice, saffron, citrus, peel, and caramel together delicately to create the most significant bitter in a mixologist's arsenal, in contrast to fragrant bitters, which have a strong, woodsy flavour buried in bitter roots, herbs, and pungent spices. It has a lighter, fruitier, and less bitter flavour than other fragrant bitters, making it a favourite of many bartenders throughout the world.

The Bitter Truth

The Bitter Truth focuses on re-creating historic bitters recipes for use in cocktails. You could easily stock an entire bar with a variety of bitters from their flavour selection and experiment with drinks to your heart's content. Aromatic, chocolate, celery, peach, and citrus fruits are among the most popular flavours. There are, nevertheless, some unusual finds. These are very good in rum, tequila, or mezcal-based drinks.  The entire range is interesting and complicated, however it is pricey.

Fee Bros

Fee Brothers has become the most commonly available of the larger lines, but they are a mixed bag. Their Old Fashion Aromatic, Whiskey Barrel-Aged Bitters, and Peach are not only delicious, but also have a plethora of applications; flavours like Mint and Rhubarb are simply the better part of cough medicine. Fee Brothers bitters are non-alcoholic, which means they can be used in non-alcoholic beverages, or the proverbial mocktails.

Bab Louie Bitters

You had it coming, no? Bab Louie's Bitters have no alcohol in them. Cocktails are recognised for having a lot of sweet-sour undertones, and adding a bitter to them enhances the flavour and completeness of the drink. In a nutshell, a Bitter is the Holy Grail if you're looking to spice up your cocktail! Bitters are prepared from a wide range of botanicals, including fruit, spices, leaves, bark, roots, and herbs.

Regans' Orange Bitters No. 6

In the cocktail industry, Regans' Orange Bitter No. 6 is a bright star. Gary and Mardee Regan, cocktail specialists and authors, came up with the notion for a better orange bitter. In the 1990s, inspired by an old recipe, the couple created their own bitters, which include orange peel, cardamom, caraway, coriander, and other herbs. It goes well with any cocktail that calls for or uses orange bitters.
